Background

CEC has issued a GFO for projects that will provide an open and neutral space for industry collaboration, knowledge sharing, interoperability testing, and conformance testing for electric vehicle charging equipment within the State of California. Up to $4 million in funding is available.

The Charge Yard facility must accommodate at minimum twelve large electric vehicle supply equipment units and four vehicles operating concurrently. The applicant must support semi-public and private testing, work to make standard test cases available for both ISO 15118 and OCPI, host at least five events annually, and perform and report findings of interoperability testing on the top 10 light-duty electric vehicles sold in the State of California.

Applicants must commit to five years of operation and provide detailed plans of how to reach 10 years of operation without additional funding from CEC. Applications must also include a minimum 33% cash match share.

Eligible Applicants

This solicitation is open to private or public entities, including multiple entities bidding as a group. Investor-owned utilities, publicly-owned utilities, universities and university-operated facilities are not eligible. The applicant does not need to be headquartered in California.
